Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering is an autonomous engineering college in Basavangudi, Bangalore, India. It is autonomous college, affiliated toVisvesvaraya Technological University(VTU), Belagavi. The engineering college, started in 1946 by B. M. Sreenivasiah, was the first private sector initiative in technical education in Indiaand is run by the BMS Educational Trust. It was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University from 1998 to 2008, and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on theBasavangudi Area Bull Temple Road, diagonally opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka. BMSCE is accredited with A Grade by NAAC (2013-2018). The Engineering Programs of BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) Bangalore is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in Tier I Format, recognized by Washington Accord during October 2014. The Accreditation is manifestation that the Institution is recognized for promoting high quality engineering education and continuously meeting the established quality standards. The Washington Accord is an elite international agreement on engineering studies and mobility of engineers. The Accord signed in 1989 as an international agreement among bodies responsible for accrediting engineering degree programs. Besides the UK and USA, some 17 countries, including Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Turkey as its signatories. BMSCE had the proud privilege of being shortlisted by NBA in the very first phase of accreditation process under Tier-I Format. The College had the unique distinction of representing the Country’s private educational institutions. A three-member international team from International Engineering Alliance [IEA] accompanied the peer team as observers during first site visit by the evaluation team during December 2013. An annual Techno Cultural fest called “UTSAV” is usually held in the month of April.
