 The six top engineering colleges of Andhra Pradesh together achieved a placement rate of just 52 percent for the BTech batch that was enrolled from  to , a Careers360 analysis has found.

The engineering colleges in AP that were ranked by the education ministry’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF ) were considered for the analysis. As part of the ranking exercise, participating institutions submit data on intake or number of seats, actual enrollment, graduate students, and those placed. For the latest  rankings, NIRF considered data from the round of final placements for the four-year BTech batch.

The top engineering college in AP was ranked 50th on the NIRF  rankings for engineering. These were the six AP colleges to be ranked among the top 200 in India by the NIRF:

These six colleges together had around 85 percent of their enrolled students graduating in. However, the placement rate – calculated with the number of students graduating in as a base – was just 52 percent. In comparison, Tamil Nadu’s top engineering colleges placed 66 percent; Karnataka’s placed 66 percent; Maharashtra’s placed 80 percent and Telangana placed 65 percent of their passed students. Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Telangana each had more than 10 institutes featured in NIRF .

However, the latest available data shows trends for a round of placements conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic and hugely disrupted by it. The lockdown enforced to control the spread of the coronavirus had also severely impacted the economy and engineering jobs.
